THE TRIP
One day I sailed away
on my imaginary ship
with no map or crew.
I did not wish
to share this trip.
I knew not my destination,
but knew I must go.
I sailed in waters
clear and blue
As I passed fishermen
on the shore
Each wave seemed
to bid "adieu".
My ship seemed
steady and sure
As if it knew
where I would go
Scenes greeted my eyes
such as I had
never seen before--
Modern times this was not.
Suddenly my ship
was at a shore.
As I was welcomed
by folk there
I felt at ease amongst them.
As they prepared food
Afraid was I,
to say the least,
Not for my safety
but for the feast
They laid before me!
Delicious to my taste yes
Each bite seemed
to arouse a quest
More knowledge of
these wondrous people
Questions poured forth
from me,
And in each answer
I did delight
(Though not in my tongue)
I understood!
I was certain this was a town
read about in my Bible--
I was not quite sure
which town--
I did so want to know.
Love, truth, faith,and honesty
Were all presented to me.
These gifts I graciously accept.
But--where was I?
As this question was formed
on my lips,
my adventurous ship
and I were back
once more
at the starting spot
of our trip!
Though I know not
where I had been--
I surely know the reason
I was there!
